The Federation of European Chambers of Commerce of the Dominican Republic is an non profit organization constituted under decree no. 229-94 with the objective to regroup and coordinate the common activities of the bilateral European Chambers of Commerce, with the
intention, in the future, tocreate a European Chamber of Commerce, in agreement with the spirit who motivated the unification of the European Community.
The functions of FEDECAMARA are to stimulate, to develop and to facilitate in the broader sense, the commerce and the investment, as well as all other exercises of free commerce and industry between the Dominican Republic and the European countries represented by bilateral Chambers
of Commerce. The reality of the European unified Market on January 1st 1993 and the increasing impact of the common policies of the member states and the development of activities of the European Union to benefit the Third World Countries made
necessary the creation of a Federation of European Chambers of Commerce of the Dominican Republic through the existing bilateral Chambers of Commerce in the country.
The Federation is formed by members that represent seven of the eight European Chambers of Commerce of the Dominican Republic: Belgian, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and British.
Their objectives are the following:
- To combine the existing influence of each one of the European Chambers of Commerce in order to support policies well defined and to develop action strategies.
- To promote the cooperation in the commerce of export between the small and medium enterprises and industries of each one of the Member States that have representation in the Dominican Republic.
- To develop cooperation between the European Chambers of Commerce in order to establish common programs to promote commercial opportunities in Europe.
The European bilateral Chambers of Commerce are represented on the Board of Directors of the Federation by their respective Presidents, or the by person to whom the directors of each chambers delegate these functions.
The bodies that direct the Federation are the General Assembly and the Board of Directors. |
